A striking large cheese dome in electroplated nickel silver, by Thomas Otley & Sons (Sheffield). Dating to the late 19th Century, this dome would have graced a wealthy estate, housing a block of cheese to prevent it from drying, whilst also containing the often strong smell.
Measurements: Plate measures 24cm x 19cm, with a total height of 16cm.
Condition: In great structural condition with no dents or restoration. Over time EPNS is prone to discolouring and wearing thin. There are small spots of wear to the dome and scratches throughout commensurate with use, however presents very well.
