A charming late 19th Century brass and pottery strut clock, the dial modelled in the form of an artist’s palette and produced by the celebrated French manufactory Creil et Montereau. The pottery dial is finely decorated with a romantic garden vignette depicting a young lady and her gallant, positioned above gilt Roman hour numerals. The movement, fitted with a platform escapement, is housed within a brass case and supported by an easel-form strut stand. No key included.
Measurements: 46cm total height including brass easel stand.
Condition: Loss of gilt decoration along the outer edge of the palette is visible. The pottery palette has a substantial chip to the rear rim, though this is not readily apparent from the front. There is minor paint wear to the lower section of the dial. No winding key accompanies the clock, and the movement has not been tested. It would be a great project for a clock restorer.
