Colin Heaney (1946-2013) Inspired by the sea - this handblown iridescent glass chalice features a bell shaped bowl on a stylised stem which hosts a faceted blue crystal gem, down to a clear glass foot. The colour is lustrous, the texture is tactile and the entire composition is visually astonishing.
Measurements: 24cm high.
Condition: In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. Hand signed and dated 1993 to the foot, along with its original gold foil sticker. Also included is the original miniature pamphlet with a blurb on the 'Atlantis Series' inspiration.
Biography: Born in Canada, growing up in California, Colin Heaney came to Australia and in 1982 purchased a glassblowing setup, eventually teaching himself the art and techniques. Heaney’s glass studio became the largest such operation in the country with almost all prominent Australian glass artists having worked with him during the 1980's - 90's. He went on to design glass art for a Saudi Arabian Sheik and many notable celebrities, including Mick Jagger and Elton John. Predicted to become one of the best future investments in glass artistry, Heaney's art is already featured in major galleries and prestigious collections across the globe.
