Dating to the late 19th Century, this wonderful Shibayama rectangular lacquered panel features a quality mother-of-pearl carving of a perched bird in high relief on a carved ivory branch, accented with further carved mother-of-pearl flower heads, mounted in a symmetrical carved teak frame.
Provenance: A private family collection - Melbourne, Victoria.
Measurements: 53cm x 36cm
Condition: In overall good condition with no evident chips or cracks. Discolouration and pigment stain fading to ivory commensurate with sun exposure and age. Some light surface scratches to lacquer panel.
