Likely produced at the Kutani Hachiman kiln sometime during the mid 20th Century or slightly earlier, this substantial Japanese Kutani porcelain figure depicts Jurōjin, the Taoist and Shinto deity associated with longevity and wisdom. The figure is richly embellished with polychrome enamels, elaborate raised moriage decoration and finely applied gilt accents. There are no evident kiln or maker's marks. An impressive sized figure that we don't often come across.
Measurements: 47cm high
Condition: In overall good condition with light signs of surface wear to the gold decoration. One pen-head sized chip to the bottom of the figure's robe (Please refer to image 9).
