A terracotta head of a woman, modelled with softly articulated features with large disc earrings, dating to the 14th–15th century from Trowulan, East Java (Indonesia). Likely would have been a part of a full body figure which once decorated a public building or garden. Mounted on a custom walnut museum stand for display (removable).
The Majapahit Empire, among the last great Hindu polities of the Indonesian archipelago, flourished as a centre of artistic, religious, and cultural synthesis in the region.
Provenance: From the collection of Madame Suzanne Gozlan, thence by descent.
Measurements: 15cm high (including display stand)
Condition: In good preserved condition, with surface wear consistent with age.
