Edo Period, Japan c1615 - 1868 (mask dating to 18th / 19th Century) A well formed Iron Samurai half-mask with a defined nose and pronounced chin; The interior red lacquered and exterior black-lacquered; the three-lame iron yodarekake (throat guard) laced with dark-blue sugake odoshi.
Measurements: 26cm x 18cm
Condition: Original, with evident losses of lacquer to exterior and interior, scratches throughout. Sugake odoshi refurbished at a later date. Iron construction in sturdy condition.
