An impressive late 19th-century French crystal vase or urn in the style of Baccarat, featuring a striking diamond-cut and hobnail-patterned body. The piece is mounted within its original elaborate ormolu crown-form and claw-foot base. Large and heavy statement piece.
Measurements: 39cm high x 16.5cm rim diameter.
Condition: Presents well commensurate with age, with no chips or cracks noted to the crystal. The frosted finish to the rim may suggest the piece was once fitted with an ormolu mount. A small scratch is present to the interior of the rim (refer to image 6). The gilt-bronze base displays surface wear and age-related patination, while remaining structurally sound. Overall, the piece retains considerable decorative appeal and an attractive aged character.
