A fine wooden casket, likely mahogany or oak with satinwood inlay, of rectangular form, the hinged lid opening to an interior fitted with four divided compartments, each set above a red fabric-lined base which lifts to reveal a shallow concealed compartment below. The exterior fitted with a lock, though lacking a key.
Measurements: 24cm long x 17cm deep x 18cm high
Condition: The original surface finish, likely lacquer or shellac, has aged and developed fine, web-like cracks consistent with natural crazing. Minor dings, dents and surface scratches are also evident, commensurate with age and use. The interior lid lining has some repairs and discolouration. Overall, a well-preserved and highly functional example, suitable for practical use as a stationery or craft box, in addition to its decorative appeal.
