A conical bowl of rounded form raised on a high, slender foot. The surface is enveloped in a rich lustre glaze of exceptional depth. Encircling the rim are finely hand-painted panels with stylised motifs executed in the Art Nouveau taste beneath the glaze.
Measurements: 25cm diameter x 10cm high
Condition: Excellent, with no chips, cracks or deep scratches.
Biography: Andrew Gibson was born in Melbourne and trained in the early 80's at Chisholm Institute of Technology, obtaining an Associate Diploma in Fine Arts, majoring in Ceramic Design. In 1984, he began working with Jan Lewis, at Table Top Ceramics and became production manager. In 1989, he set up his own pottery studio and started making exhibtion pieces, experimenting with the use of lustres, by mixing; different methods of application, and multi firings of the works. He is known for his simple, elegant forms, ranging in size from miniatures to large exhibition pieces.
