Ancient Luristan Bronze Arrow Head, circa 1200 - 800 BC.
The barbed triangular shaped arrowhead features a raised mid rib and a pointed tang, which was to be inserted into a wooden shaft to form the complete arrow projectile. It showcases light brown earthly encrustations on the bronze, testament to the objects’ prolonged burial underground prior to excavation. These surface encrustations can be removed to reveal the bronze below, however, we have preferred to keep it in its original found state.
Reference: Many archeological records can be referred to, in particular we recommend reading; Cf. Muscarella, O.W. "Bronze and Iron Ancient Near Eastern Artefacts in the Metropolitan Museum of Art - New York", 1988. Refer to page 292, figure 417.
Provenance: Ex Abelita family collection, 1980-2015
