Biography: Chen Qiaosheng was born in Jiangsu in 1957. His courtesy name is Yangi and his pseudonym is Luxiang Jushi. He was born into a family of metal furnace makers. His ancestors have been engaged in copper furnace and copperware making since the Qing Dynasty. Chen Qiaosheng is the third generation inheritor of the family's skills. Since the 1970s, he has been committed to excavating and restoring the Xuande furnace making skills that have been gradually lost since the Ming Dynasty and completely lost in the Republic of China. Over the past 40 years, with the support of his family, Chen Qiaosheng has finally restored the Ming Dynasty Xuande furnace casting skills by visiting major museums, reading ancient books and conducting thousands of trials, and then perfected and developed dozens of key crafts, such as molding, copper refining, casting, and skin shell making of the Incense Burner.
