Measurements: 39cm x 49cm (Frame: 60cm x 70cm)
Condition: Artwork is in good condition with no evident damage. Frame has some light surface wear around the edges, however is sturdy and presents very well.
Biography: J. Colin Angus was a mostly self-taught artist in the traditional landscape style. He began full time painting fairly late in life in 1968. He held many solo and group shows throughout Australia, and exhibited overseas (Paris, London, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Cambridge UK, Cambridge USA, New York and Palm Springs.). Angus won lots of awards, including the Albury Prize (4 times), The Streeton Award, the Harrietville Award, Rutherglen, Wodonga (twice), Bega, and a gold medal in the Merced-Albury Award in 1976. He was awarded an International Grand Prix Award at Galerie 34 in Paris in 1979, and an Honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts from the World University, USA, in 1983. Works are represented in many private and institutional collections in Australia and overseas, including the State Library of NSW, the Merced Collection California, and Lambeth Palace, London.
