Biography: Mimovich was born in 1920 and grew up in the village of Sankt Johann in the Pongau region of Austria (now a part of Italy). At the age of 20, she moved to Vienna where she studied clay modelling and drawing. She later attended the School of Wood Sculpture in Hallstatt from 1943 to 1947. Following her marriage to Ljubisa Mimovich, the couple migrated to Australia in 1949 and eventually settled in Kew, where she established her own studio. Leopoldine undertook commissions which reflected her Austrian traditions and Catholic background. A bronze and wood sculptor, painter and etcher, she was awarded an OAM in 1985 for her contribution to the arts. Leopoldine's works are represented in many Galleries, Private Collections and public buildings around the world.
