A Pair of French Candelabra by M. Cheret, Paris, circa 1880
Of impressive design and fine execution, each candelabrum rising from a conical triform base, the knopped hexagonal stems supporting branches enriched with fleur-de-lys ornament. A refined example of late 19th-century French decorative arts, distinguished by the quality of casting. Bears Cheret's maker's plaque attached to the underside.
Measurements: 56cm high x 37cm wide
Condition: Excellent. They retain a good soft natural patination. With brass, it's a matter of personal preference whether to have natural patina which shows its age and character, or a polished look to highlight the metal's colour. We have left these candelabras in original unpolished, patinated condition.
